Tera Ventures’ portfolio company BotGuard raised a €12m Series A led by MMC Ventures
BotGuard OÜ, an Estonia-founded cybersecurity software company that helps web hosting providers control traffic and protect their infrastructure from malicious threats, has secured a €12 million Series A funding round led by MMC Ventures. Existing investors Tera Ventures and Expeditions Fund also participated in the round, alongside prominent angel investors including Stefan Lindeberg.

Baltic VCA-s announcement on the misconduct at BaltCap
In November 2023 BaltCap, a relevant player in the Baltic PE/VC industry, publicly announced misconduct in its Infrastructure Fund in Lithuania. According to Baltcap, a now former partner of the fund Šarunas Stepukonis had managed to embezzle amounts estimated to be as high as 40 million euros. Lithuanian and EU investigative authorities have launched criminal proceedings in the case.

Kingdom Technologies Secures 1.6m EUR funding to Revolutionize Lawn Care with Robotic Mowers
Founded in 2018 by visionary Estonian entrepreneur Joan Kangro, this ambitious Glasgow company has recently secured a hefty 1.6m EUR in funding from a consortium of investors led by the founders of Skype and Bolt, alongside Iron Wolf Capital and Specialist VC. BaltCap Growth Fund (BGF) exits Estonian ambulance service provider Karell Kiirabi as BGF portfolio company Pihlakodu sells 100% of the subsidiary to the owners of local elderly care chain Südamekodud. During the BaltCap holding period, Karell Kiirabi fully upgraded its fleet and ambulance stations and witnessed solid business growth.

Music promotion platform Groover has closed an $8 million Series A funding round. The round was led by investors OneRagtime, Trind Ventures, Techmind, MozzaAngels, and supported by historical backers, Partech, Bpifrance’s Tech & Touch fund, Verve Ventures, and Frenchfounders.

Founded out of Finland in 2018, Bob W touts itself as a “tech-enabled hospitality operator,” with some 3,000 “aparthotels” offered for rent in 17 cities across Europe, including Amsterdam, Athens, London, Berlin, Madrid, and Helsinki.

Specialist VC, known for backing successful ventures like Bolt, Starship, Veriff, and Salv, has made their first investment in the defence industry company SensusQ to help build a global and smart defence industry in Estonia. With the money raised, SensusQ, which has operations in Ukraine, the UK and Estonia, plans to continue its international growth and accelerate product development.

OLed by Norwegian venture capital fund RunwayFBU and Estonia’s Superangel, the round drew participation from existing investor Antler, alongside new investor StartupLab, and a host of angel investors including Gunnar Evensen, Trond Riiber Knudsen, Snorre Larsen and Olav Slupphaug.

FUNDRAISING NEWS: Practica Capital closes €80 million fund committed to early-stage investments in the Baltics
Our member Practica Capital announced the final closing of its third vintage and largest fund to date at an €80 million hard cap. Practica Venture Capital III is a 3x uptick in size from its predecessor and will significantly increase the capital available for the Baltic founders. The fund is the biggest seed fund in the region to date and establishes Practica Capital as a pan-Baltic early-stage investor.
