Groundhawk, a Finnish infrastructure software technology company transforming how underground utilities are mapped and documented,
has raised €2M in seed funding, co-led by Greencode Ventures and 2C Ventures. The funding will accelerate Groundhawk's expansion across European markets and support the development of its spatial intelligence platform, which is transforming how telecommunications, energy, and utilities infrastructure is built.
Groundhawk is
tackling a massive challenge in infrastructure construction: inaccurate underground cable and pipe mapping, which causes billions in damage, delays, and inefficiencies every year. By enabling construction teams to capture centimetre-accurate 3D data while trenches are still open, Groundhawk turns documentation into a real-time quality assurance process.
With major investments underway across Europe in electricity grids, fibre networks, EV charging infrastructure, and energy systems,
reliable spatial data will be critical for efficiently building and maintaining these networks. Groundhawk's combination of high-precision positioning, 3D scanning, and AI brings much-needed digitalisation to this part of the construction workflow.
Unlike traditional surveying methods that require specialised personnel and separate site visits,
Groundhawk is designed for ease of use directly within existing construction teams. "Groundhawk is so user-friendly that anyone already on site with the device can handle the cable mapping. If you can shoot a video with your mobile phone, you can use Groundhawk, and this accelerates the entire project," says
Christoffer Winquist, CEO and co-founder of Groundhawk.
The €2 million seed funding will support several strategic priorities: building a scalable B2B sales organisation across Germany, the UK, Benelux, and Nordic markets; expanding the engineering team to advance the AI and spatial intelligence capabilities; and developing new product features that extend from build-time documentation into planning support and predictive quality assurance. The company aims to establish Groundhawk as the standard platform for infrastructure data capture and quality management across Europe, with plans to expand beyond in 2027.
